In recent years, more than 3 million people fled from Venezuela. There is constant political unrest happening in the nation.

It all started when Nicolás Maduro became the President of Venezuela in April 2013. During this time the economy of Venezuela went into a very freefall status. Social opposition against the President triggered all over the country, yet amidst all opposition Mr Maduro gets re-elected for a term of next 6 years in May 2018. This was a highly controversial win and the protests continued in severe ways.

In May 2018, most of the opposition parties decided to boycott the Presidency of Maduro. Maduro reacted very strictly to this opposition. Many candidates of the opposition parties were barred from running for office, whereas many were imprisoned. Many of the opposition leaders faced life threats and thus fled away from Venezuela.

However, the National Assembly kept protesting President Maduro as a "usurper" and demanded he vacate the office of the Presidency.

The political crisis in Venezuela is at its peak as on 23rd January, the 35-year-old - Juan Guaido, declared himself as the President of Venezuela.

Support of President Donald Trump might appear very humanitarian and democratically current, at this moment; but you never know which card is kept hidden. Only time will tell.
